"Women Who Tech Too Much .... in the Park!"

A Women’s History Month Celebration

Hosted by 1st Sphere Community & Economic Development Corporation

Philadelphia, PA, --- Recent numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (2006) indicate that women comprise 27-29% of the computing workforce. These numbers have fallen from a peak of 38% in the mid-1980s.

It's no secret that women have a significant amount of influence over purchases made in American households. As nurturers, business people, consumers and key stakeholders, women are the trendsetters and models for America’s future. Unfortunately, many of the tech tools that women need to succeed are not readily available to them, within their neighborhoods, nor within their reach.

The 1st Sphere Community & Economic Development Corporation, a non-profit organization, is providing direction to change this reality. 1st Sphere Community & Economic Development Corporation welcomes all to attend the Women Who Tech Too Much .... in the Park! workshop.

The Women Who Tech Too Much .... in the Park! workshops are free outdoor tech events.

The objective of these workshops is to provide a safe yet open atmosphere where women can bring their own wifi enabled laptops or use the ones which will be provided to learn new computing skills, ask questions, and gain hands-on training in areas of Tech & Business computing, Social Media, and Internet safety. Because these events will take place in the park, women can also bring their families. It is a great way for children to get exercise and fresh air while their parents gain valuable insight into interesting tech tools.

These free workshops will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at MLK Park located at 6th & Engle Streets in Chester, PA 19013 (Next to Crozer Library), http://women-history-month.eventbrite.com/ and Saturday, March 31,2012 from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Fernhill Park, Morris St & W Abbottsford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19144, http://womens-history-month-19144.eventbrite.com

Participants must RSVP to reserve a space during the Women Who Tech Too Much .... in the Park! workshop.

This interactive workshop will be facilitated by African American woman computer expert, JC Lamkin, PMP, President of Gypsy Lane Technologies (GLT), a leader in Internet solutions with offices in Philadelphia County, Delaware County, and Chester County, PA. GLT specializes in best-in-class computer management solutions. Ms. Lamkin will also be available to sign copies of her book, “Fabulous & Tech-Filled, Volume 1” .
